Crisis Text Line Now Available to Dementia Society
|
The Crisis Text Line is an independent nonprofit organization that provides free 24/7 support for those in crisis. Text "hello" to 741741 from anywhere in the United States to text with a trained Crisis Counselor. Maybe it's the death of an older family member from Dementia that has a younger family member extremely upset and they need help. Or, maybe, because of Dementia, a grandchild is no longer
recognized by their grandparent (or aunt, uncle or other adult), therefore they have very complicated feelings, a high degree of anxiety and are much sadder than normal. With this new nonprofit collaboration, the Dementia Society of America, in conjunction with the Crisis Text Line, seeks to help an audience, who are mainly younger (heavy texters) people, and we strongly encourage them to reach out via text and engage if they need help in a
crisis.
